Warranty support
Log warranty cases for SMT installations in South Africa with the machine serial number, board details and clear failure symptoms ready. Include the equipment details and fault information needed to assess the claim correctly.
What the warranty team handles in an SMT week
The Warranty Desk page explains how to log a warranty-related issue on SMT equipment or supplied parts. Use it when your team already has the unit details, the fault symptoms and the site conditions recorded.
Record the machine model, serial number, fitted option and the exact point where production stopped or quality drift appeared. Site conditions matter here: inland dust around feeders, coastal corrosion on exposed metalwork, unstable mains after load-shedding, and transport timing into Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town can all affect a warranty assessment. Add the PCB name, paste type and component range if the issue shows up only on certain assemblies.
Photograph the unit as found before cleaning, resetting alarms or swapping parts. Include the feeder bank, nozzle station, oven zone screen or error display that matches the reported fault, then keep those images with the purchase order file. That record helps separate an equipment defect from handling damage, consumable wear or a setup change made during shift handover.
Warranty case details to gather
Prepare one clear case with the unit reference, failed item, observed symptoms and any steps already taken on site. Include alarm codes, board results and whether the issue is repeatable across multiple runs. A complete trail is more useful than a long message that leaves out the serial plate or affected assembly.
Link the fault to the relevant machine section and attach supporting records through the contact form. Before collection or inspection, check that loose parts, rejected boards and any replaced consumables are listed against the same case number. Where a placement issue is involved, add one image of the feeder position or nozzle setup at the time the defect was seen.
- Serial number and site location noted
- Alarm screen captured before reset
- Parts, boards and photos matched
Site conditions affecting warranty checks
A valid warranty report needs the operating context, not only the fault description. Note whether the machine sits in a high-dust inland plant, a coastal workshop with salt exposure, or a mixed demo and production area where changeovers happen often. Also state if the event followed a power dip, generator transfer, courier damage on arrival or storage in a humid room.
On coastal sites, oxidation on connectors and sensor surfaces can resemble a component or board problem. Inland plants often see dust build-up around tape feeders, covers and vacuum lines, which changes inspection results if the machine is cleaned first. If a fault appears after load-shedding, include UPS status, restart sequence and whether home positions were rechecked before the next board entered the line.

Information for the warranty team
Send the warranty team the machine identity, fault history, photos and the conditions present when the issue occurred. Include any part numbers from supplied spares or consumables, plus the board type used when the failure showed up. Keep filenames and case notes consistent so the evidence can be matched correctly.
Log the warranty case while the event is still fresh and the machine state can still be verified. Attach service notes, receiving records and board evidence if the buyer or maintenance lead needs supporting paperwork. Where supplied parts are involved, note batch labels, packaging condition and when the item was fitted to the line.
